UPDATE: March 20, 2021: I’m temporarily suspending orders for court gowns and doublets.
This spectacular doublet is made with a sumptuous quilted velvet in midnight black. It is lined with black medium weight cotton duck fabric and interlined with heavy weight interfacing. Six stunning clasps of antiqued silver adorn the front and close with a heavy hook and eye type closure.
The rolled tabs at the shoulders and waist are made with gray suede fabric and have been embellished with jacquard trim in black and metallic silver. (The gray suede looks more gray in person.) Each of the tabs has been further embellished with a nickle/brass domed stud, which I will provide so you may apply as desired. (I don’t apply the studs.)
The sleeves are detachable and tie with cording (crimped with aiglets) to d-rings which have been placed inconspicuously inside the doublet armholes. The fabric is a medium weight dove gray jacquard which has a tiny woven design in light gray and coordinates delightfully with the other two fabrics. They are lined with black breathable cotton fabric. I’ve sewn elegant silver buttons and black elastic loops at five places along the opening of each sleeve. The sleeves are designed to allow glimpses of the shirt worn underneath.
As you can see, the doublet is magnificent with or without the sleeves and is available for purchase either way.
This doublet is made when ordered in standard chest sizes 30 through 52. I do adjust for torso and arm length but not for ale bellies.
