(Even though this is listed as a "costume", it is far superior to "costume-quality" garments...believe me, there is a difference. High quality fabrics and notions, years of experience and a borderline psychotic attention to detail set my clothing apart from that of many other historical garment makers and costume sellers you'll find. I apologize for any implied arrogance...I just call 'em the way I see 'em.)

The Bodice
is made of a dramatic crimson damask fabric. The attached shoulder caps are made from the same fabric and are accented with jacquard ribbon. The front and back neckline of the bodice is heavily embellished with jacquard ribbon and luxurious venise lace.
This back-lacing bodice is designed to achieve the period-correct conical figure by pressing the chest and stomach flat and squeezing the bosom up above the neckline. (Unfortunately, my dress form can't "squish", but hopefully you get the idea!).

Cording laces up the back through 16 black grommets. A matching modesty panel is also included to allow for multiple sizes and also so the cording can be loosened without the chemise showing between the grommets. The cording ends are crimped with aiglets for easy threading and a finished appearance. This sturdy Bodice has three pieces of 1/2" carbon steel boning (plastic coated with rounded ends) in the front section, poly boning in the side seams and back seams to reinforce the grommets, heavy interfacing for structure and support and is lined with heavyweight upholstery fabric. Unless you're into unnecessary pain an under corset is not necessary. This bodice is VERY sturdy and will give you plenty of bosom and waist enhancement.
YOUR bust and waist measurements should be at least the same as the Bodice and can be up to3 inches LARGER. The tighter it's laced, the more "push up and together" effect you'll get.

The Overskirt
is made with the same crimson fabric as the bodice and is embellished with more of the jacquard trim and venise lace along the opening of the split front. It has a drawstring waist for the perfect fit . (I prefer a drawstring waist in the skirts of my own costumes since they can be tied very tightly and won't ride down below my bodice.) Skirt circumference closed is approx. 120" . Hemmed to desired length. (Shown with a hoop slip and bum roll which are not included.)

The Underskirt
Is made with a front panel of black satin. The remainder is made with lightweight, comfortable black cotton. Circumference is approx. 150". Hemmed to desired length.

The Detachable Hanging Sleeves
Very Elizabethan. They are made with the crimson damask and are lined with the black satin. They have an elastic casing at the shoulder and simply slip on over the chemise. Theoretically, the sleeves should stay in place with the elastic, but if not, a few discreetly placed pins under the shoulder caps will hold them securely in place. The dress also looks lovely without the sleeves.

The Satin Chemise
Is made with more of the black satin. Delicate venise lace adorns the neckline and elegant 5" venise lace makes for a dramatic ruffle at the wrist. It has a adjustable drawstring neckline and lastic at the ruffles (a small section of elastic is exposed on the inside for easy adjustment). Will be made to comfortably accomodate the bust measurement given.

The Bodice Jewels
Are made with a combination of Swarovsky crystals, hand-chained Swarovsky glass pearls and teardrop pearls, acrylic cabochons and silver-toned filigree settings. They attach to the bodice with tie-tac type pinning devices.
