I love the duplicity of this ensemble.

Worn with a black chemise, it practically purrs with mystery and allure.
Yet, when worn with an ivory chemise, it simply radiates, "I'm fabulous!"

With a reversible bodice and TWO skirts, it's like getting several outfits for the price of one! Reverse the bodice...change the order of the skirts...tuck them up in about about a million different ways.

The point being, you get a ton of different looks with this three-piece ensemble.

(Even though this is listed as a "costume", it is far superior to "costume-quality" garments...believe me, there is a difference. High quality fabrics and notions, years of experience and a borderline psychotic attention to detail set my clothing apart from that of many other historical garment makers and costume sellers you'll find. I apologize for any implied arrogance...I just call 'em the way I see 'em.)

The Bodice
The first side is made with a gorgeous tapestry fabric with a woven leaf design in sage and plum on a black background. It reverses to a luxurious sage faux suede fabric. This bodice will go with many different colors of skirts and chemises. Black cording laces up the front through 14 silver grommets and at the shoulders through 4 grommets for easy torso adjustment. The cording ends are crimped with aiglets for ease of threading and a nice, finished look.

It is innerlined with heavy decor weight interfacing, has 1/4" spring steel boning (plastic coated with rounded ends) in the front sections and poly boning in the side seams. What does this mean to you? Superb support and excellent durability while still being comfortable.
This sturdy bodice is designed to achieve the period-correct conical figure by pressing the chest and stomach flat and squeezing the bosom up above the neckline. (Unfortunately, my dress form can't "squish", but hopefully you get the idea!).

YOUR chest and waist measurements should be at least the same as the Bodice and can be up to 3 inches LARGER. The tighter the bodice, the more "push up" and "cinching" effect.

The Cotton Skirt
is made with four full yards of plum colored 100% cotton fabric in a cool, comfortable weight (not cheap broadcloth). The skirt will be a great addition to your garb collection. It has a drawstring waist for the perfect fit. (I prefer drawstring to elastic in the skirts of my own costumes since they can be worn very tightly under a gown or bodice without riding down.) Circumference is a full 144 inches. Serge hemmed to desired length up to 43".

The Crinkle Guaze Skirt
Is made with lightweight black crinkle cotton gauze fabric. It drapes delightfully and because it is lightweight, it doesn't add the normal bulk of a second skirt. (I always wear one gauze skirt with one cotton skirt rather than two cotton skirts because with two standard weight cotton skirts there is just too much bulk at my waist. ) Circumference is approx. 144". Serge hemmed to desired length up to 43".

Cavalier Lady Chemise (black and ivory), belt, pewter mug and mug strap are NOT included but all are available for purchase.
